The "Forbidden" Beaches: Horses and Solitude at Macabou

Looking for the postcard beach with lounge chairs and bars? Go to Les Salines. Looking for emotion, wind, and the feeling of being the last human on Earth? Follow us to Macabou.

At INHÉRENCE, we love the wild Martinique. The one you have to earn.

1. The Price of Silence: A Little Walk

Macabou is not a "drive-in" beach. It is protected from the crowds by a natural barrier: walking. Leave your car. You have to walk a little, crossing coconut groves and following the coastline. But once you arrive, the reward is immense. A stretch of virgin sand, bordered by a coral reef that breaks the Atlantic swell. Here, there are no donut vendors. Just you and the ocean.

2. The Magical Encounter: Horses

It is a scene worthy of a movie. It is very common, while walking at Macabou, to cross paths with riders. The nearby equestrian center organizes tours on the sand. Seeing these majestic animals galloping along the water's edge, manes in the wind, reinforces this feeling of being at the end of the world. If you wish, we can organize your own horseback ride at sunrise.

3. The Honest Advice : The Seaweed Question

We believe in total transparency with our guests. Since Macabou is on the Atlantic coast, it can be affected by Sargassum (seaweed) depending on the currents, often between April and August. That is why we always check the condition of the beaches before recommending them to you. But outside the Sargassum season, it is undoubtedly the most splendid and wild place on the island. A place where you feel truly alive.
